About us

The South Oakland Art Association was established in 1960 by a group of artists representing a cross section of communities in southern Oakland County, as well as Detroit. Since then, we have had artists join from many cities throughout Oakland, Wayne, Livingston, and Macomb counties.
The purpose of this group is to become acquainted with other artists, their styles, and techniques through regular meetings. We also share in, and benefit from, each other’s experiences, interests, and artistic pursuits.
SOAA is an organization includes both amateur and professional artists and artisans. This association specializes in a wide variety of visual arts and includes members who have an active interest in the appreciation and promotion of the fine arts. Although our association itself is a “non-profit’ organization, many of our members have benefited from the SOAA through sales of their work at sponsored events and shows.
